Use the mouse to select regions of the sound. You can add regions to the selection by holding down the shift key while selecting.

Other functions available via the Select menu include Invert, Select all, and Select none.

You can play back just the selection by holding down Ctrl+Space or loop this by pressing Shift+Ctrl+Space.
